Monitor For Sever Storms -
The models have trended weaker with this Mondays low pressure to form in the eastern Gulf of Mexico. They also have trended much further south with development and a track much further east offshore the eastern United States seaboard. The low is forecast to track over South-central Florida, in the Lake Okeechobee region, putting Orlando southward in the best wind dynamics for severe storms in the warm sector, as there will be impressive wind fields in place. The only thing is, there looks to be a major lack of moisture and instability for thunderstorm develop, at least as of now, and this will put a significant hold on severe storm formation. If more moisture and instability can develop, then South Florida could see some isolated strong to severe storms with even a tornado or two as storms would race across the state and offshore. We’ll have to see how the rebounding of the atmosphere over the next 24 hours takes place after this latest scouring front.
HAVE TO MENTION THAT GFS/NAM/ECMWF SHOW VERY IMPRESSIVE 0-3KM SRH VALUES AOA 300 M2/S2 ACROSS THE LAKE OKEE REGION BY MONDAY EVENING…WITH GFS/NAM EVEN SHOWING VALUES AS HIGH AS 600-800. (NWS – MIAMI FL)
IF TSTORMS DO MANAGE TO DEVELOP MONDAY AFTERNOON AND EVENING…ESPECIALLY ACROSS THE LAKE OKEE REGION NEAR THE LOW CENTER…THERE WOULD BE A TORNADO POTENTIAL. WILL HAVE TO KEEP A CLOSE EYE ON THIS. RIGHT NOW THOUGH IT LOOKS AS THOUGH THE LACK OF INSTABILITY SHOULD KEEP THINGS UNDER CONTROL…BUT IT`S WORTH A MENTION AS THINGS COULD CHANGE.
The Arctic Blast To Return To Florida This Week -
This low is expected to race up the coast and send a surge of cold air advection down the spin of the Florida peninsula on Tuesday and Wednesday. This will allow temperatures to drop in the 50’s for Highs in FL. Then high pressure will settle in making for some decent radiational cooling by mid week once again, and nearing if not below freezing temps both mornings. This could be the second hard freeze threat for Central and South Florida in two weeks. The last one did produce some widespread vegetation freeze damage well into the Florida Everglades.
Both the severe storms chances and possible hard freeze are still being fine tuned by the forecast computer models this morning, Whatever the case, there looks to be a lot of wind, some rain with isolated thunder, and a return to very cold weather for Florid standards this upcoming week. Stay tuned!

A Nice Evening Out For Dinner
Another cold weekend here yesterday barely clearing 60F, and I did little besides working around the house, and organized some of my video files on one cluttered up server. Around midday, got a call from my Dad inviting us to dinner at the Olive Garden to join him and some of his friends visiting from Pennsylvania on a Winter escape mission to Singer Island Florida. Sure enough, Kersten, J.J. and I headed out in the evening to Wellington to meet up for dinner on very chilly last evening in January. We arrived a little late due to me dragging back at the house, and found a packed parking lot. Took us a good 10 minutes to find parking, and everyone was mad rushing around the lot looking for the next available spot. I guess everyone was wanting some warm pasta and wine on a cool evening too.
Dinner was nice, and we talked about hurricane chasing, tornadoes, snow storms, Singer Island, Super Bowl match up, Weatherly, PA, and a bunch more. The conversation was good, and so was the dinner. My pasta was a tad over cooked, but the outstanding salad and breadstick made up for it. Dinner was great and our waiter was one of the best in personality I have had in a while, although he brought me a Raspberry ice tea instead of my normal un-sweet Ice tea with extra ice. No big deal…. So we wrapped up at the Olive Garden a little after 9:00pm and made the trek home into the chilly night. It was great having dinner out with Dad his friends making for a enjoyable evening out.
Early Morning Blogging Before The Big Game Day -
As I type this, it’s just before dawn here on Sunday morning, oh wait. Super Bowl Sunday morning. It’s very cold out, around 41F, and I have a log on the fireplace. Sitting next to the fire blogging on the laptop, with coffee in hand waiting for the warm up later today. Needed to get up early to get some stuff done before all my attention goes into 200 hours of pre-game programming and then the big game this evening. Honestly, do they really need 7 hours of pre-game shows? Seems always a bit too much, but I always find myself getting sucked into it anyways. More time to insert million dollar beer ads before the big game 3 million dollar beer ads. I love the ads too! Everyone knows I’m a Dolphins fan, but I’m all for the Steelers tonight.
Everyone enjoy the game tonight and the parties, but play it safe out on the roads this evening and if your out at a party or Super Bowl watching venue. Now it’s time to top off this coffee and get to work on some last minute video editing.
