Hard Freeze Forecasted Tonight As Arctic Intrusion Continues

Northern Florida To See Continued Hard Freeze Threat -The latest in a series of cold fronts that has been keeping Florida in a unusual early winter pattern the last two weeks, blasted through northern Florida earlier today. This latest boundary opened the door to arctic temperatures to filter into the Southeast and Northern Florida region and setting the stage for another night of hard freezing. Damaging low temperatures could be seen are far south as Ocala, FL in the interior of the state, and over the remainder of North Florida and the Panhandle. The National Weather Service is using strong wording for overnight temps forecasted and the threat of sub-freezing weather for several hours early in the morning Saturday.
MINIMUM TEMPERATURES WILL BOTTOM OUT IN THE UPPER 20S EARLY SATURDAY MORNING WITH DURATIONS OF 4 TO 7 HOURS OF SUB-FREEZING TEMPERATURES EXPECTED. LOWS IN THE MID 20S WILL BE POSSIBLE IN NORMALLY COLDER LOCATIONS BUT A WIDESPREAD HARD FREEZE IS NOT EXPECTED.
Early Winter Patten Fooling The Calendar
It’s only late November but were seeing winter weather that normally northern Florida experiences in late December through late February. The Fall season quickly turned into winter shortly after the rainy season came to a close only about a month ago. Seasonal temperatures the last several weeks have been well below normal at times, and many record setting cold morning have already be recorded this Fall season. Believe it or not, this pattern looks to continue through Thanksgiving Day with cooler weather in place.

Frost Advisories Issued For Northern Florida Tonight -
The strong mid November cold front that raced through the southeast and Florida on Saturday is helping to setup a very cold night in Northern Florida. The National Weather Services offices in both Tallahassee and Jacksonville, FL have issued Frost Advisories for the late overnight and early morning hours. Overnight low temperatures are expected to reach the lower 30’s, with some sheltered locations to reached below freezing for a few hours. Temperatures were falling fast at sunset Sunday evening, with the western Panhandle regions already falling into the lower to mid 50’s. Tallahassee at 5pm was already at 56F with the dew point sitting at the 32F freezing mark. The temps are likely to be well into the 40’s by mid evening as far south as north-central Florida.
NWS- TLH: LOCATIONS MOST LIKELY TO SEE TEMPERATURES REACH FREEZING LATE TONIGHT WILL BE ALONG AND SOUTH OF THE I-10 CORRIDOR WHERE SANDIER SOILS WILL ENHANCE THE COOLING. THE COLD TEMPERATURES AND LIGHT WINDS ARE EXPECTED TO RESULT IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF PATCHY FROST DURING THE LATE NIGHT HOURS.
The cold weather pattern will continue into the new week, with temperatures ranging like Sundays and Mondays well into mid week with more overnight changes of isolated freezing and frost. It will not begin to modify with more moisture and warmer temps until late into the week and next weekend. A prolong period of cool weather is expected for the remainder of the week for all of the Southeast United States and much of the Florida peninsula.

Unseasonable Strong Cold Front For Late October North Florida

Tallahassee Could See Freezing Temps Overnight -Possible freezing temperatures for North Florida overnight. Significant cold air advection into the deep south, will help spill cold temps are far south as Southern Florida tonight. The northern portions of the state will see near freezing weather, likely in more of the sheltered areas. Much of the Panhandle and North Florida could see freezing temperatures for a few hours, and freeze watches are now in affect for tomorrow morning. This is all thanks to a unseasonable strong cold front for late October, and the prime cold air and wind flow out of the North-northwest, pushing cold air directly down the spin of Florida. This is more like a December through March setup for a Florida cold snap.

There will likely be several morning low temperature records broken, since most of the record temps for tomorrow are from weaker cold snaps in the past. Below are some locations and the records to be broken overnight published by the National Weather Service in Tallahassee, FL.

By Thursday, winds will shift easterly, and most of Northern Florida will return to more seasonable weather for the upcoming Halloween weekend. It sure will be interesting to see how low it gets tonight so early in the season.
Isolated Storms Heading For The Panhandle Today

Plains Low Pressure Storm Dragging Front Into PanhandleStrong Storm Chances Shift East On Friday
This cold front boundary will shift overnight Thursday into northern Florida region and the associated weather with will do the same. Tallahassee to Jacksonville to Gainesville, will see the best chances for isolated storms, maybe a few strong, but mostly gusty winds and rain with the passage of the front. Most of the energy to provide more severe weather will be lifting northward out of the Southeast and will lessen the threat by late in the day.
Some of the coolest temperatures of the season are on the way later in the weekend and into next week. The first real punch of cooler weather is in the forecast and will focus on that more this weekend, until though, keep an eye to the sky the next 24 hours for those of you living in the Panhandle and northern Florida region.
Chilly Temperatures Move Into North Florida Overnight

Fall Winds and Temperatures Filter Into North Florida
If cooler Fall weather is your cup of tea, then the next several days in North Florida are your place to be. Overnight Saturday, a fairly strong cold front for mid October swept through much of Florida bringing much drier and cooler temperatures. North Florida and the Panhandle will see the coolest temperatures since way back in the spring. Temperatures overnight fell into the upper 40’s in many locations, and Sunday night temperatures could fall a tad more into the mid 40’s on a chilly north-northeast wind. The drier and cooler weather should stick around for the remainder of the weekend and into Monday before the atmosphere modifies as the winds turn more southerly by Tuesday.
North Florida Has A Change of Season
These cold fronts will become more frequent as the weeks pass and we move into late October and early November. Before you know it, regions from Tallahassee to, Jacksonville, to Ocala will be seeing stronger frontal passages with frost and wind chill advisories. Shorter days and longer nights are on the way, and the hot, humid North Florida afternoons will soon be a thing of the past until next spring.
